Description
Short throw shifter kit with CHROME stick for OE replacement in:
- 1997-2004 Chevrolet Corvette (C5) - all models with manual trans
- Stick has 3/8"-16 knob thread
- Knobs with OE 9/16"-18 thread mount will NOT FIT
- Lower pivot cup NOT included - reuse OE or buy separately
- Stock shifter base mounting bolts are reused; if you presently have an aftermarket shifter and do not have the stock mounting bolts, request bolts in notes at checkout
Kit includes chrome stick #7201, classic knob, base assembly, gasket, stick bolts, boot grommet (optional), and installation instructions. The included boot grommet is not necessary in a C5 however some of the stick may be hidden and it may not look as finished without it. For best fit, top ~1" of leather console boot should be cut off (w/ scissors) to use the included boot grommet
Throw is reduced by ~ 30%; most aftermarket Corvette shifters are too aggressive - this one has the ideal balance of effort vs distance. Knob height is same as stock. Other versions of this shifter are available (see separate listings)
This is NOT a Hurst product; compared to all brands it is smaller and simpler but fits and works better. The base is built by Core Shifters using proven components inside a custom housing:
- High-strength billet steel gear selector w/ hardened steel crosspin
- Spherical fulcrum pivot in a spring-loaded, self-lubricating polymer socket
- Low-friction captured design - no bias springs
- Effort to enter reverse and 5-6 gate is minimized
- 2-3 shift improved by reduced leverage without adding excess force
- CNC-machined billet aluminum housing w/ steel wear clips
- Zinc-plated laser-cut steel baseplate
- Vibration-resistant serrated flange head steel retaining bolts
