Jam nut for shifter knobs and handles with 3/8"-24 UNF "fine" thread:
- Zinc-plated steel
- Round upper portion w/ hex at bottom for wrench
- 9/16" outside diameter (~ 14mm)
- 9/16" across hex flats (~ 14mm)
- 5/16" tall overall w/ 0.2" tall round portion
- Equivalent to Hurst #1792244 & Year One MG003
- Intended for aftermarket classic knobs & T-handles w/ ~1/8" recessed mount
- NOT compatible with most OE knobs
This thread size is found on:
- AFTERMARKET Hurst chrome sticks produced before ~1975
- + Hurst Indy 3 speed shifters through present day
- Does NOT FIT Hurst chrome sticks produced since 1975 (= 3/8"-16)
- Does NOT FIT Hurst aluminum or black sticks (thread size varies)
- The following manual trans applications in OE configuration:
- Buick, Olds, Mopar, & AMC w/ FACTORY Hurst shifters to 1972
- Other OE AMC & Jeep CJ (1979 w/ 3 spd & 1955-1979 w/ 4 spd)
- Most Ford trucks to 1981
- Most GM & Dodge trucks to ~1987
- Does NOT FIT:
- Chevy, Pontiac, or Ford cars
- GM cars after 1972
- 1980+ Jeep
- "non-Hurst" GM factory shifters (Muncie = 5/16"-18)
- Other sizes available
